On Saturday, the North Daviess Cougars volleyball competed at the North Vermilion Invitational. In the early game  ND beat Hebron 25-12. In the championship game, they defeated the host school 25-21 and 25-19 to win the title. The Cougar Junior Varsity team also won that portion of the tournament with wins over Hebron and North Vermillion.
The Loogootee Lions volleyball team was crowned the 2022 Loogootee Invitational Champions with wins over Paoli 2-0, Boonville 2-0, and Mater Dei 2-1 on Saturday.
The North Daviess tennis team beat a good Gibson Southern team on the road Saturday 4-1.  The Cougars are now 12 and 1 on the season and meet Washington at 4:30 today at the Lena Dunn Cougars.
Sticking with tennis, the Loogootee Lions remained undefeated in both the regular season and the conference with a 5 to 0 win over Wood Memorial. The Lions, who are 11 and 0, are in action today, hosting Vincennes Rivet at the Rick Graves Tennis complex at 4:30.
In baseball
As you heard on the General, the Cincinnati Reds lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 in Milwaukee.
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 to 3, powered by Albert Pujols, who blasted his career 697th home run, placing him 4th on the all-time home run list and inching closer to the lofty 700 home run club, only trailing Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, and Babe Ruth in career long balls.
In the National Football League as heard on WRZR the Indianapolis Colts battled through regulation and overtime to tie the Houston Texans at 20.  Matt Ryan, making his Colts debut was 32 of 50 pass attempts with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.  Jonathan Taylor again shined with 161 yards rushing on 31 carries and a touchdown while Michael Pittman Jr was the top receiver with 9 receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown.  The Colts are next in action Sunday in Jacksonville at 1 pm.
