The Indianapolis Colts released the details for 2022 training camp at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield on Wednesday. The Colts will have 16 total practices starting on July 27th and ending on August 25th. That 16-practice schedule will weave its way through a pair of preseason games on August 13th and 20th and the final practice will come two days before Indianapolis’ final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 27th. Prior to the August 20th matchup against the Detroit Lions, the two teams will have a joint practice at Grand Park on August 17th and 18th.
With the NBA draft in the rear view mirror, the league’s attention turns to Summer League, the upcoming season and, of course, free agency. The action packed portion of the league schedule begins on Thursday at 6:00pm and the Pacers, like many teams, have players that could be on the move this summer. Oshae Brissett will not be on the move this offseason as Indiana picked up the team option on Brissett’s contract worth a non-guaranteed $1.8 million. The Pacers front office have choices to make regarding free agents TJ Warren, Jalen Smith, Ricky Rubio and Lance Stephenson. Warren was one of the best players in the NBA bubble in 2020 but has barely seen the floor since then due to injuries. Ricky Rubio and Jalen Smith made their way to Indiana by way of trade deadline deals the Pacers made early in 2022, but their time with the team could be short.
The Cincinnati Reds out hit the Chicago Cubs 12 to eight on Wednesday, but they fell 8-3. The Reds had 14 opportunities with runners in scoring position but only capitalized on four occasions. Chicago, on the other hand, got multi-RBI games from three different players in the two, five and nine spots in the batting order.The Detroit Tigers pitching staff combined to hold the Giants to just seven hits as Detroit won 3-2. The Twins and Guardians went to extras in Cleveland tied at 3-3 before the two teams combined for seven runs in the 10th inning. The Guardians scored four in the bottom of the frame capped off by Josh Naylor’s game-winning two-run home run. Thanks to a two-run shot in the top of the ninth, the Marlins beat the Cardinals 4-3 and the Chicago White Sox fell in Los Angeles to the Angels.
