Odon Settles Tax Lien From IRS…Allows Alcohol in Town Park

The Town of Odon has settled a Tax Lein from the Federal Government dealing with unpaid withholding taxes left over from the town’s previous administration.   According to a report in the Odon Journal,  the failure of the Town of Odon to pay the Federal withholding taxes for employees occurred in 2013 and 2014 under the administration of former Town Clerk Beth Haseman.  Current Odon Town Clerk, Mandy Wilz, told the Odon Town Council that the  settlement with the Internal Revenue service called for the Town to pay $12,458.89 in back taxes plus additional interest and penalties of $3,482.39.

In other action, the Odon Town Board voted to allow alcoholic beverages to be served at the Odon Town Park.  The change applies to special events, such as wedding receiptions, and is restricted to shelters and buildings.   Those wanting to serve alcohol at special events in the Park will need to provide proof of insurance and have a special permit from the Town of Odon and the State Alcoholic Beverage Commission.   The Board maintained the prohibition against general random alcohol use withing the Park.
