In the Boys Tennis Sectional at Vincennes, The host Vincennes Alices advanced with a 5 to nothing win over South Knox.  Washington advanced with a 5 to nothing shut out win over Vincennes Rivet.  Washington will face Vincennes for the championship tonight at 5pm.

North Daviess advanced with a 4 to 1 win over Bloomfield to move on to the championship.  The Cougars will now face Linton who edged out White River Valley 3 to 2.  The championship at North Daviess is set for 4:30pm today.
At Loogootee, NE Dubois moved on last night with a 5 to nothing win over Paoli.  Tonight is the big showdown, as Barr Reeve will face Loogootee in the semi finals at 5pm.  The championship is set for Friday night.
The Washington girls soccer team will wrap up their regular season at home tonight against Southridge.  It’s varsity only at 6pm.
The Atlanta Braves finally got on the board in the 13th inning and defeated the Cincinnati Reds 1-0 in game one of the National League wild card series. Freddie Freeman’s single off Amir Garrett in the bottom of the 13th broke a scoreless tie in a historic postseason game. It was the longest scoreless duel in MLB playoff history, and the teams combined for a playoff-record 37 strikeouts. The Reds squandered many chances, as they left 13 runners on base and went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Cincinnati must win Thursday afternoon to stay alive, and Luis Castillo will start against Atlanta’s Ian Anderson.  Game time is noon again today with pre-game coverage at 11:35am on the General 95.9fm / 101.3fm / AM 1580.
The Miami Marlins scored five runs in the seventh inning and went on to beat the Cubs 5-1 in game one of the NL wild card series at Wrigley Field.  Yu Darvish will try to keep Chicago’s season alive Thursday afternoon.
 Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run home run as part of a four-run first inning and the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the San Diego Padres 7-4 in game one of the NL wild card series. St. Louis was able to catch its collective breath with two days off after playing 53 games in 44 days to make up for games missed due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Veteran Adam Wainwright will start for St. Louis Thursday afternoon as the Cardinals attempt to advance to the NLDS.
 NASCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Wednesday that the Brickyard 400 is no more. Instead of racing on the 2.5 mile oval as it has done every year since 1994, the NASCAR Cup Series will race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in 2021. NASCAR and IndyCar will once again team up for a doubleheader on the IMS road course August 14th and 15th. The NASCAR Xfinity Series held a thrilling race on the road course July 4th, which spurred track and series officials to move the Cup Series race as well.
