Big conference win for the WHS boys tennis team, winning 5-0 over Gibson Southern. They are now 12-2 overall, and 7-0 in the conference.They face Vincennes Lincoln at 4:30 Today.
In Tennis the Barr Reeve Vikings won 5-0 over WRV to improve their record to 14-0 and that sets up the battle for the Blue Chip Conference Title with Loogootee on Thursday. Both Barr-Reeve and Loogootee put their undefeated records on the line as the battle will take place at 4:30PM on the BR Courts.  The Wood Memorial Match originally scheduled from this past Monday has been rescheduled for September 26th.
The Loogootee Tennis team improved to 16-0 with a 5-nothing shut out win over Vincennes Lincoln.  Loogootee also claimed the JV victory.
Gibson Southern topped Washington in a PAC Boys Soccer conference match up at the Sports Complex last night 2-1.  The Titans improved to 10-0-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while Washington falls to 5-3 and 3-2 in conference play.  The Hatchets travel to Boonville tomorrow.
The Washington 8th Grade Football team hosted North Posey at Hatchet Hollow falling 54-34. It was closer than the score shows, as the Hatchets were only down 2 at half.  The 7th graders did not play due to numbers on North Posey.
The Barr-Reeve Volleyball team improved their varsity record to 17-2 as they defeated Jasper Wildcats 3-0.   In set-1 the Vikings won 25-11, set-2 25-16 and in set-3 in a much closer battle the Vikings won 25-20.  Next up for the Vikings they travel to South Knox on Thursday.
North Daviess Volleyball defeated Shakamak for a conference win  25-17, 25-15, 19-25, 25-21.   The Cougars are now 2-1 in the SWIAC Conference.
If the Chicago Cubs and White Sox play against each other in the World Series, they will meet at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Major League Baseball announced that the majority of the postseason will be held at neutral sites in a bubble-like atmosphere. The first round will be held at home stadiums like normal, but after that, the American League will contest their playoffs in San Diego and Los Angeles, while the National League will be based in Houston and Arlington, Texas, with the World Series held at the Rangers’ new ballpark in Arlington.
The Cincinnati Reds scored three runs in the first inning and went on to win their fourth game in a row with a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 6-5 on a walk-off hit by pitch Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Lafayette native and Cleveland pitcher Nick Wittgren entered the game and loaded the bases when he hit Willson Contreras. On the next pitch, he plunked Cameron Maybin to bring home Kris Bryant who scored the winning run. Javier Baez homered for the Cubs and scored twice.
The Milwaukee Brewers hit four home runs and beat the St. Louis Cardinals 18-3 Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. Milwaukee scored seven runs in the fourth inning and added six in the fifth in the rout.
IndyCar veteran and four-time champion Sebastien Bourdais will drive the number 14 car full-time for A.J. Foyt Enterprises in 2021. The 41-year-old Frenchman will make his debut for Foyt at the Harvest Grand Prix doubleheader at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course next month. He was scheduled to drive the first three race races for Foyt in 2020, but the races were all canceled or moved due to the pandemic. Bourdais has won 37 races in his IndyCar career, including four straight championships in Champ Car from 2004 through 2007.
