The Washington Catholic Boys varsity soccer team fell to Sullivan 4- 1
The WC Girls Soccer team also lost to Sullivan 4-0
The Washington Lady Hatchet Soccer team lost a heartbreaker to a tough Heritage Hills team last night at the Sport Complex in overtime 2 to 1.  In the first 7 minute overtime session, the Lady Patriots found the back of the net with a 38-yard free kick at mid-field that would be the final goal.  Washington scored with three minutes left in the first half on a goal by Peyton Summers-Ponce off the top cross bar.  The loss was the first of the season for Washington.
The Barr-Reeve boys tennis team won their match at South Knox 5 to nothing with another shut out win to go 12-0 on the season.

Patrick Mahomes didn’t miss a beat Thursday night in the first game of the 2020 NFL season, leading his Chiefs to a 34-20 win over the Texans.   Mahomes threw for three touchdowns on 24-of-32 passing and didn’t need to exert himself late in the game with the reigning Super Bowl champs in control.
The Colts season gets underway Sunday afternoon against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Two-time First Team All Pro guard Quenton Nelson missed practice Thursday with a back injury. Neither Nelson or any Colts coaches commented on the severity of the injury. The Colts ended the 2019 season with a 38-20 loss at TIAA Bank Field, where Indianapolis has not won since 2014. Indianapolis is 7.5 half point favorites for Sunday’s 1 p.m. Eastern kickoff.
The Chicago Cubs defeated the Cincinnati Reds 8-5 in a game that lasted until early Friday morning at Wrigley Field. The Reds jumped to an early 3-0 advantage before the Cubs began to claw back. Chicago scored five in the fourth inning and added a pair of runs in the fifth. Cubs catcher Willson Contreras went 4-for-4, driving in a run and scoring twice. The Cubs improved to 26-19 and their lead in the NL Central sits at three games over arch-rival St. Louis.
The St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers split a seven-inning doubleheader Thursday at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals won easily in game one by a score of 12-2, while the Tigers bounced back and rallied in game two for a 6-3 win. The Cardinals hit five home runs in game one, as St. Louis played its seventh doubleheader of the season and third in six days.
