In Boys Soccer, The Washington Hatchets shut out Tell City  6 to nothing on Saturday.  The Hatchets return to action tomorrow as they have a tough road trip to Castle.  JV kick off is set for 6pm
The Barr-Reeve Volleyball team won their own Invitational on Saturday to move to 11-2 on the season.  In the first match the Vikings defeated Northview 25-7, 25-13, in the second match the Vikings defeated Evansville Mater Dei 25-13, 25-16. in the third match the Vikings defeated Vincennes Lincoln 25-18 and 25-9.  That set up the Championship Match with Trinity Lutheran who defeated Terry Haute South, Heritage Hills and Indianapolis Lutheran to get to the Championship Round.   Trinity Lutheran took set one 25-21 before the Vikings came back to take set two 25-19 and set three 15-9 to win the Championship Match and improve their record to 11-2.  The Vikings are back in action today hosting Springs Valley.
The Barr-Reeve tennis team won their own Barr-Reeve Invitational on Saturday by defeating North Posey and North Daviess.  Barr-Reeve is now 11-0 on the season and will travel to South Knox on Thursday.
Sports on the air this week on WAMW, the Washington Girls Soccer team will take on Heritage Hills for a big showdown at the Sports Complex.  Varsity kick off is set for 6:30pm on Memories 107.9fm.  The Hatchet Football team will be at home Friday for the battle for the Hwy 57 helmet as they host North Daviess, of course catch all the action on Memories 107.9fm.  And the Girls Volleyball team will host Bloomfield tomorrow at the Hatchet House.  You can watch the live stream on YouTube just search WHSH Broadcasting.
The Chicago Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 Monday afternoon at Wrigley Field behind eight masterful innings from Kyle Hendricks. The Professor scattered seven hits over eight innings, striking out four while walking none. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and extended Chicago’s lead in the NL Central over St. Louis to two and a half games. The Cubs are 24-18 and end the season series with their rivals 5-5.
The Indianapolis Colts open the season Sunday at division foe Jacksonville and will look to break a pair of streaks. The Colts have not won in Jacksonville since 2014 and have not won a season-opener since 2013. The team continued to make roster moves Monday, claiming defensive tackle Eli Ankou (el-EE ON-koo) off waivers from the Browns. To make room for Ankou, the Colts placed tight end Trey Burton on injured reserve.
