Tax abatement granted to Berry Global

The Daviess County Council this week gave final approval of a tax abatement request from Berry Global.
The nearly 14 million dollar abatement was granted for an expansion of the company’s Odon location.   11 new jobs and a 40,000 square foot warehouse and new line are all part of the company’s growth in the county.
The Washington Times Herald quoted Council President Kent Norris who said we need as much manufacturing growth we can get in the county.  The expansion plans will continue even though the company has been slowing down production of plastic packing for the food industry because of the pandemic.
Daviess County Economic Development Corporation Director Bryant Niehoff was quoted as saying that with everything current happening, the expansion is one of  many indicators that investment is taking place in Daviess County.  He call it a “ray of sunshine.”
