A tree fell across US 50 in Martin County yesterday and hit a semi killing the driver.
Indiana State Police report that 33-year-old Eric Gootee of Bedford was driving a 2008 Kenworth Semi east on 50. He was two miles west of shoals near Rama Dye Road when a large tree on the south side of the road fell and hit the truck in the windshield and passenger compartment and struck Gootee. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for two hours while crews worked the accident.
