Around 600 Indiana National Guard soldiers are set to deploy to the Middle East as part of Operation Spartan Shield.
This week, the soldiers will first travel to Fort Cavazos in Texas for approximately a month of training before their 12-month deployment.
Operation Spartan Shield focuses on strengthening defense partnerships, building capacity, and conducting multinational exercises.
