James Franklin Hill, aged 73, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on September 20, 2024. Born in Avon Park, Florida, on September 24, 1950, he lived a life characterized by kindness, humor, and friendliness, touching the lives of all who knew him.
James was known for his robust spirit, a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He is lovingly remembered by his partner, Janna W. Scott, his ex-wife, April Jordan, and leaves behind a legacy through his children, Stacy L. White (Tony), Adina D. Martin (Jerry), James A. Hill (Ravene Whitaker), Pamela Cannon (Jon), Richard A. Hill, Kristopher Hill (Renee), and Alyssa C. Adams (Christopher Andis). His lineage continued to flourish with the love of his many grandchildren: Amanda, Amy, Erica, Brittany, Addison, Angel, Jessica, Monica, Cody, Tommy, Nikki, Landon, Kaden, Mya, Landen, Richie, William, Jacob, Maelah, Robert, Riley, Wyatt, Koen, Annah, and his treasured great-grandchildren: Lyla, Jaylyn, Jackson, Cameron, Robert, Garret Lee, Amelia Grace, Liam James, Luka Christopher, Mya, and Landen. He was surrounded by the affections of his siblings, Sandra, Brenda, Stan, Myra, and Tammy, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond forged through shared experiences and enduring love.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Richard Hill and Thelma Omelia Woodard Anderson, his siblings, Deloris Hill, Thretha Hill, Wanda Odam, Sharron Caryl, Linda Wells, and David Hill, and his great-grandson, Grant Owen. Every life he touched will dearly miss him.
With an education that culminated in the eighth grade, James exemplified that great intelligence and wisdom are not solely the domain of academia but are often best expressed through life’s practical experiences. James took pride in his work as a concrete finisher, a trade where he showcased his skill and dedication. His commitment to community was manifested through his active membership in the Assembly of God, where he found spiritual solace and fellowship.
James’s interests were a reflection of his zest for adventure and his love for storytelling. He found happiness working on heavy equipment and sharing rides in the semi with his dad. His musical talents were evident as he played the drums and the spoons, much to the delight of his friends and family. An avid reader, he enjoyed losing himself in the wild, rugged landscapes of Louis L’Amour western novels. Deep sea fishing offered him moments of reflection and excitement as he waited for the next big catch.
James Franklin Hill’s warm and vivacious spirit will remain in the hearts of his family and friends, and his memories will continue to inspire smiles and laughter in all who had the good fortune to know him.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home with service following at 1:00pm officiated by Pastor Michael Anderson. Mr. Hill will be buried at Pine Crest Cemetery in Sebring, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to defray from funeral expenses.
