Edward Lee Hart, known affectionately as Ed to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 88, in the same town where he was born—Washington, Indiana. Ed’s life was one marked by dedication, love, and service, leaving behind a legacy of which his family is incredibly proud.
Born on September 5, 1935, to the late Marie Frances Banta Hart and Lloyd Hart, Ed grew up to be an intelligent and spirited individual. His academic journey led him from graduating from Washington High School in 1953 to furthering his education at Vincennes University and ultimately earning a degree from Purdue University. Ed’s thirst for knowledge translated into a successful career, during which he owned and operated Hart Equipment until his well-deserved retirement.
Serving his country with honor, Ed was a veteran of the United States Air Force. His unwavering faith was evident through his membership at First Christian Church, where he was a cherished member of the congregation.
Ed’s interests were as expansive as his intellect. He delighted in boating and had a profound love for aviation—a passion that took him to the skies. His intelligent nature was balanced with a warmth that made him beloved by many.
Ed leaves behind a family that will remember him with fondness and admiration. He is survived by his children, Christopher Lee Hart (Lorana), Jeffrey Marvin Hart (Phylis), and Philip Lloyd (Kelley); a step-daughter, Patricia Eve Ingle; grandchildren Joe, Jeremy, and Josh Hart, and Myia Bromm; great-grandchildren Titus, Jael, Enoch Hart, Philip Maverick, and Braylynn Bromm; his sister, Sue Ragsdale; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Price.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, Patricia C. Rogers Hart, and his second wife, Lenora Alford Hart.
Ed’s presence will be deeply missed, yet his influence remains etched in the hearts of those he touched. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered, and Ed Hart will be just that—a beloved figure eternally etched in our memories.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home with a service immediately following also at the funeral home.
