Washington Community Schools Board Holds Public Work Session to Address Overcrowding and Future Needs

wcs-2-2

In February, a community task force of approximately 70 local residents looked at the facilities and future needs of the Washington Community Schools. After five weeks of study, the group presented the school board with a list of potential projects. Thursday night, the school board held a public work session to help develop a long-term facility plan for the school district. Board members gave their thoughts, answered questions, and heard opinions from several community members. Enrollment in the Washington Community Schools has been growing, and buildings are overcrowded. Several board members pointed to the need for more space and increased security as major priorities.
Washington Superintendent Kevin Frank said Thursday night was the beginning of the planning process.

Frank said the board wants more public input and participation at the August work session.

Again, the next public work session is scheduled for August 15. More detailed information from Thursday’s initial work session can be found on the Washington Community Schools social media sites.
