dnr-9

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is investigating an incident that began around 3 p.m. on Thursday. Authorities were called to Kimmel Park along the Wabash River after reports indicated that an adult had been rescued from the water, but a child was still missing.
Emergency services from Knox County, including Vincennes Police, Vincennes University Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Vincennes City and Township Fire Departments, and Good Samaritan EMS, were on scene throughout the afternoon. Local departments also deployed drones in the search.
Later, several DNR trucks and boats arrived, and dive teams joined the effort. Search and rescue watercraft from local departments, as well as a fan boat and john boats from the DNR, scoured the river between Kimmel Park, the railroad bridge, and Pearl City for several hours. The body of the missing child was recovered from the Wabash River near Kimmel Park in Vincennes on Thursday night, following a nearly five-hour search. The body was found before 8 p.m. in approximately six feet of water near the end of the boat ramp. No further details have been released at this time.
