Washington, IN – Late Saturday night, a water main burst at the intersection of E Main St. and SE 3rd St., causing significant damage and water spray. Initial reports came in at 10:11 p.m. The roadway was also reported to be severely damaged, and the situation worsened as the road began caving in further. The water department was dispatched to handle the situation. Officers were assisting with traffic, and Tri-County was en route to recover a vehicle that had fallen into a hole caused by the burst. Reports of a second water main break near SE 3rd and Oak were received around 11:31 p.m., but it was quickly addressed by the water department. Crews worked through the night to repair the breaks.
