Accident in Washington, IN: Semi Truck Hits Pole, Causes Fire

A property damage accident occurred at 420 S State Road 57 near Scoops in Washington, involving a semi-truck that hit a pole. The incident was reported at 4:18 p.m. According to reports, the semi-truck hit a pole in the area, and the driver reported that the truck was leaking diesel and on fire. The accident also caused power lines to fall onto the semi-truck. The Washington Police Department cited the driver of the semi-truck for disregarding a traffic control device as well as a city ordinance violation for a U-turn within city limits. The incident resulted in damage to several vehicles and infrastructure, including power lines and poles. However, the lane was reopened at 5:33 p.m., and the situation was brought under control. Later in the evening, traffic control was needed for another semi-truck having trouble in the construction area. The street department was looking into the possibility of posting signs to address the issue. Additionally, officers spoke to the Perdue shipping manager, and the shipping manager agreed to make calls to reroute drivers away from the area.
