The accident also caused power lines to fall onto the semi-truck. The Washington Police Department cited the driver of the semi-truck for disregarding a traffic control device as well as a city ordinance violation for a U-turn within city limits. The incident resulted in damage to several vehicles and infrastructure, including power lines and poles. However, the lane was reopened at 5:33 p.m., and the situation was brought under control. Later in the evening, traffic control was needed for another semi-truck having trouble in the construction area. The street department was looking into the possibility of posting signs to address the issue. Additionally, officers spoke to the Perdue shipping manager, and the shipping manager agreed to make calls to reroute drivers away from the area.
