Jasper Police Arrest Suspect in Battery Incident at Maplegrove Trailer Park

In the early hours of August 18, 2024, Jasper City Police responded to a 911 call reporting a battery incident at Maplegrove Trailer Park. The caller, a male victim, informed police that he had been assaulted by a man armed with a pistol. Officers quickly located and surrounded the suspect’s trailer at Lot 111. The suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Jose De Jesus Perez Martinez, eventually exited the trailer and was detained without incident. During the investigation, officers discovered paraphernalia linked to Martinez, who admitted to smoking methamphetamine and tested at a .23 on a portable breath test. After receiving medical clearance at Memorial Hospital, Martinez was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center. He faces charges of battery and possession of paraphernalia.
