Our Community Foundation awarded a $250 Teaching Innovator grant to Kami Giesler, a teacher at North Daviess Community Schools. The grant will fund a project in her classroom aimed at increasing students’ enjoyment of reading by introducing them to works by Indiana authors. Giesler plans to use the grant to purchase books by authors either born in or currently residing in Indiana. The grant is part of a competitive program conducted by the Foundation in May and June, which invited Daviess County teachers to apply for resources for their first-semester projects.
