Jerry “Silky” Sullivan

Jerry “Silky” Sullivan, 63, passed away at his Washington residence during the early morning hours of July 31, 2024. He was born in Washington on June 24, 1961, to Donald and Opal (Charles) Sullivan. He was married to Myra Sue Sullivan, and she passed away on October 2, 2021.
Jerry was a 1979 graduate of Washington High School. He had worked for the City of Washington in the Street Department; later, he was a caretaker for the Oak Grove Cemetery. Jerry was a true outdoorsman who loved spending time at his river cabin on the West Fork. There, he spent his time fishing and hunting (especially for mushrooms and arrowheads). Jerry also liked riding motorcycles and four-wheelers and was a member of the ABATE Motorcycle Club.
Those who now mourn Jerry’s passing include his daughter, Gerri Lynn Sullivan of Washington; his grandchildren: Jerry “JT” Wirts, Logan Gilmore, Kayden Gilmore, all of Washington; and Megan Sullivan of Plainville. Jerry was blessed with two great-granddaughters and he was looking forward to the arrival of a great-grandson in the next few months. Additionally, Jerry leaves an uncle, Dude Sullivan of Washington; a brother, Darrell Sullivan of Bicknell; a sister, Lola Page of Washington; and three lifelong friends: Morgan Prewett, John Orchard and Tony Page.
During his lifetime, Jerry mourned the loss of his parents, Donald and Opal Sullivan; his wife, Myra Sue Sullivan; his daughter, Laura Kamplain; niece, Amy Sullivan; and brothers, Donald and David Sullivan.
Memorial contributions in Jerry’s name may be made to the Oak Grove Caretakers, PO Box 2306, Washington, Indiana 47501.
Burial will be at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
