The Daviess County Commissioners met Tuesday morning with a small agenda. Commissioners President Nathan Gabhart gave an update on the courthouse project. Gabhart said the courthouse is still on line to be completed next spring, with a move in sometime in the summer of 2025.
In regular business, the commissioners approved a new schedule of fees for the Health Department. County Health Nurse Kathy Sullender told the commissioners that a raise in fees was needed to meet the rising costs of vaccines. The fee schedule applies to those patients with private insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid.
The commissioners also approved a grant application for County Clerk Lauren Milton. Milton said the $27,000 state grant would be used to purchase three new voting machines and add an extra check-in spot at the vote centers. Milton also reminded voters that with the new vote-center arrangement, Daviess County voters can vote at any voting site in the county. Milton said she will advertise the vote centers and how they work in the local newspapers and radio stations.
In other business, Daviess County Airport manager Erica Burkemper gave the commissioners an update on projects that will add a new access road and a taxi lane to the airport. Burkemper said funding for the projects will come from state and federal grants, and no county funding will be needed.
The next commissioners meeting will be held at the Daviess County Government Center at 8:15 a.m. on August 13.
