Washington has been selected as one of five of the latest sites to house the new training hub for firefighters.  The new hub will be behind the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department on County Road 150 South. The state is investing $7.7 million in the new training sites to provide high-quality physical training structures within 30 miles or 45 minutes of all career and volunteer departments. The site in Washington will be locally owned and maintained, but the state will be constructing the facility and helping with preparation. Assistant Chief Darwin Fleagle says the new facility will allow for extensive training for all firefighters and emergency personnel.

You can hear our full interview with Dave Gray, Washington Township Fire Chief, and Darwin Fleagle about the new center this weekend on Focus on the Community on WAMW.
