WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind. — The Washington County sheriff’s department will not be able to cover the community overnight. With low pay, long hours, and staff numbers being down, the county sheriff’s department will no longer be able to cover the county overnight. Sheriff Brent Miller says the department is also struggling to attract people due to having a lower starting salary than the rest of the state. So, for now, plan B is for Indiana State Police to cover parts of the county overnight.
