Daviess County Commissioners Discuss Sale of Old Salt Barn and Lease Renewal Language for DSI Grant Application

The Daviess County Commissioners had a short agenda for Tuesday morning’s meeting. The major discussion of the meeting centered on the sale of the county’s old salt barn. When the property was advertised for sale, the commissioners set a minimum bid of $95,000. Only two bids were received, one for $75,000 and the other for $61,000. While neither bid reached the minimum asked, the commissioners seemed ready to sell for the higher bid but were unsure whether they could legally sell when bids did not reach the minimum advertised. The issue was tabled for research into state regulations.
The commissioners also heard a request from Sheri Tredway of DSI. Tredway told the Commissioners that DSI has an opportunity to receive a grant, but the application calls for more specific lease renewal language in the contract on the Red Door building. The Commissioner agreed to add language giving the option for a ten-year renewal.
In other business, the Commissioners approved the appointment of Adam Robinson to the County Board of Zoning Appeals and approved the issuance of a third credit card for the Health Department.
The next commissioners meeting is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on March 26.
