The second challenge seeks ideas from public and private sector members for the development and testing of hypersonic systems, offering awards totaling $1 million. The student challenge encourages students to create videos addressing specific questions. Winners can receive up to $10,000. The second challenge is a two-phased initiative seeking unique ideas for integrating hypersonic systems with existing Department of Defense platforms. The JHTO is open to ideas from various entities, including non-traditional defense players. The first phase involves submitting papers outlining concepts, with selected submissions receiving $100,000 for the second phase. Two winning proposals will be selected, each receiving up to $250,000, with the overall goal of developing an offensive system within 24 months.
