Early yesterday morning, Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle accident on CR 700 N east of CR 200 E in Plainville. A 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling eastbound on CR 700 N and failed to negotiate a sharp S curve in the roadway. The vehicle went off the road and into a ditch. The driver of the Pontiac was identified as 21-year-old Shawn Pershing from Plainville. The front seat passenger was identified as his brother, 19-year-old Breyden Pershing, from Elnora. Neither were wearing seatbelts. Breyden Pershing was pronounced dead at the scene. Shawn Pershing was transported to the Daviess Community Hospital with a possible broken knee and ankle and then transported to St. Vincent in Evansville. The investigation is continuing.
Breyden Pershing was a 2023 North Daviess graduate. North Daviess has announced they will have counselors available at the junior high school for students and staff tomorrow.
