Bonita “Bonnie” Sue Smith, 73, of Petersburg, passed away November 30, 2023 in Jasper, IN. She was born September 6, 1950 to Oral William and Mary Lou (Brock) Dent in Gibson County, IN. Bonnie graduated from Petersburg High School Class of 1968 and went on to work for Amax Coal and later Jasper Furniture. She married her husband, Randall Smith, on April 29, 1972. She enjoyed ceramics, camping, crafts, and road trips. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Randall Smith; sons, Bradley (Gina) Smith and Tyler Smith; grandchildren, Tate Smith and Camden Smith; brothers, Lawrence “Buckwheat” Dent and Greg Dent; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Chad Dent; and sisters, Loretta Miley and Diane Dent.
Services for Bonnie will take place at 11 AM EST on Saturday, December 9, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 4 – 8 PM EST on Friday, December 8, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Augusta Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
