James “Jimmy” Koontz, 55, passed away peacefully with his son by his side on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 5:24am in Washington.
He was born on June 20, 1968, to William Edward Koontz and Delores Ann (Fields) Koontz in Bloomington, IN.
Jimmy was a member of the 1986 graduating class at Loogootee High School. During his working career, Jimmy worked various jobs. Most recently, he worked as a Fork Lift Operator for Boyd’s in Washington. He enjoyed watching sports, learning of any kind (especially learning new facts and information), politics, and he was known for being a large history buff. Most importantly, Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his son Christopher and his grandchildren Lila and Nicolas.
Survivors include his son, Christopher James (April) Koontz of Bloomfield, IN; his grandchildren, Lila and Nicolas; his mother, Delores Ann Koontz; his siblings, Billy (Melissa) Koontz of Crane, Rachel Swaby of Bloomfield, Tiana (John) Faith of Owensville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Jodi Renee (Norris) Koontz; his son, Jairus Edward Koontz; his father, William Edward Koontz; and his grandson, Jairus Blaine Koontz.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 12:00pm at Harvest Community Church, 1482 Harvest Church Rd., Bloomfield, IN 47424, with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating. Following the funeral service, Jimmy will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Jodi in the Dishman Cemetery in Hobbieville.
