Vincennes Man Shot in Northeastern Vanderburgh County: Under Investigation

On Monday, at 8:17 PM, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident in northeastern Vanderburgh County where a homeowner reported that he had shot a male trespasser in front of his residence.

Upon arrival, deputies found a male with a gunshot wound to his leg. Immediate medical attention was administered, including the application of a tourniquet to control bleeding. The homeowner was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Operations Center for questioning and provided a voluntary statement. According to the homeowner, the male attacked him at the end of his driveway, leading to a self-defense shooting. The homeowner fully cooperated with the investigation, offering a detailed statement, and was not subjected to arrest. The injured male was transported to a local hospital for treatment. However, he proved uncooperative during detective interviews, providing no statement.

Hailing from the Vincennes area, the male had no apparent connection to the incident location. Following standard procedure in self-defense cases, the case file will be forwarded to the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
