Floyd Lee Edwards

Floyd Lee Edwards, 81, of Monroe City, IN passed away on November 15, 2023. He was born in Vincennes, IN on March 28, 1942, to the late Cecil and Velma (Gillum) Edwards. Floyd attended Fritchton High School and was a graduate of the 1960 class. He worked as a lifelong farmer and in quality control for Johnson Controls for 20 years. Floyd was a lover of all sports, but his favorites were The South Knox boys’ basketball team and The St. Louis Cardinals.
In his early years he enjoyed drag racing in his car, Mr. Blue. He even broke a world record while driving it. He loved going mushroom hunting with his daughter, Cathy, to their secret mushroom patch. Floyd enjoyed taking his kids to watch the Cardinals play at Busch Stadium. Floyd was the founder of the Monroe City Telethon to raise awareness and support for muscular dystrophy, which impacted his son.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son Brian Douglas Edwards.
Floyd is survived by his daughter Cathy (Jason) Ochs; stepson Brad Chapman; grandchildren Alyssa (Derrick) Robertson, Kirsten Purdue, Kalen Ochs; great-grandchild Raleigh Robertson; sister Janet Piper; brother David (Darlene) Edwards.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Edwards. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 208 W. 8th St. Monroe City, from 10 to 11 am.
Memorial donations can be made at the memorial service to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Floyd’s honor.
