John Robert Crecelius, 57, of Washington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 6:00pm.
He was born on July 14, 1966, to the late Tommy B. Crecelius and Sally Ann (Hughes) Crecelius in Linton, Indiana.
John was a member of the 1984 graduating class of Switz City Central High School. After high school, he went on to earn his Associates Degree from Vincennes University, majoring in Surveying/Drafting. Throughout his working career he held various positions at many local businesses. He had formerly managed and operated McDonalds in Washington, but most recently he was a jailer at the Daviess County Security Center and was coming up on 8 years holding that position. John was an avid NASCAR fan, a lover of the Indianapolis Colts, and a big fan of the WWE. He loved spending time with his family any chance he had and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Surviving John are his children, Kirk Crecelius and his wife Eden of Petersburg, Lexi Crecelius of Jasper; his sisters, Mrs. Steven (Sara) Smiley of Odon, and Lori Fulcher of Washington; his niece, Olivia (Matthew) Findlay and great nephew Angus Findlay; his aunts, Mrs. Gary (Connie) Scott, and Mrs. Ted (Susie) Soliday, both of Lyons; several cousins; and his soon to be first grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Sally; his grandparents Robert and Uda Hughes; and his beloved dachshund, “Dach”.
Visitation for John will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 10:00am with Brad Rainey officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons.
