#2 Purdue faced their first major test of the year in hosting Xavier at Mackey Arena, Boilers had lost 5 straight games to the Musketeers. Zach Edey led all scorers with 28 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds in the 83-71.

In college football there was a lot of shrapnel after the Texas A&M vs Mississippi State game on Saturday. The Aggies won the game 51-10 and both teams told their head coaches to hit the road. The Bulldogs fired Zach Arnett just 10 games into his first season and Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher who was 45-25 at the school in 6 lacklustre seasons. The buyout figure to fire Fisher is believed to be the largest single buyout paid to a football coach and will eclipse $72 million.
