The Daviess County Commissioners had a short agenda for Tuesday morning’s regular meeting. The commissioners received several bids for materials for the Highway Department opening, and reading the bids took up most of the meeting. After all bids were opened, the commissioners took the bids under advisement and will take action at the next meeting.
In other business, the Commissioners heard a report from Cindy Barber on Discover Downtown Washington’s Quick Impact Facade Grant program. Barber told the commissioners that the program had been a successful way to kick off Discover Downtown Washington.
The commissioners also agreed to a request to renew the contract with Daviess County Economic Development. The commissioners agreed that changes to the contract might be needed after new Executive Director Robert Grewe has an opportunity to settle into his office. Commissioner Ron Arnold suggested a review after the first of the year.
The commissioners also gave a brief update on potential storage areas during the anticipated remodeling of the courthouse. The Commissioners also reaffirmed the transfer of the Osborn Cemetery grounds to the First Mennonite Church in Montgomery.
The Commissioners then adjourned to a 10:30 a.m. ribbon cutting of the rebuilt overhead bridge in Montgomery. The bridge was officially opened to traffic on Thursday.
