Vehicle Accident in Jasper Leads to Drug-Related Arrest

JASPER, IN – On October 21, at 2:48 PM, the Jasper Police Department responded to a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Wernsing Rd. and US 231. Upon arrival, officers determined that the driver of the involved vehicle, 37-year-old David R. Bozell from Columbus, had left the accident scene on foot and fled into a nearby cornfield. Law enforcement established a perimeter and, with the assistance of JPD’s bloodhound, successfully located and apprehended the suspect. Following an investigation, the police discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Bozell’s possession. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Dubois County Security Center. Bozell is facing multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a prior suspended license, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries resulting from the vehicle accident.
