Edward Joseph Witsman

Edward Joseph Witsman, 80, of Vincennes, IN went to his heavenly home on October 13, 2023. He was born on December 9, 1942, to the late Edward Witsman Sr. and Cecilia (Wheatley) Witsman Horn in Vincennes, IN.
Ed was a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School. He joined the United States Air Force upon his graduation and was stationed in Anchorage, AK. On May 10, 1964, Ed married the love of his life, Ruth I. Donovan and they spent nearly 58 years happily married. They made their home in Anchorage, where together they had their only daughter Kristi Michelle (Witsman) Cook, who preceded them in death.
Following his stint in the Air Force, Ed moved his family, to Seattle, WA, where he worked for 30 years as an executive for the Sea Land Corporation and another 10 years for CSX Railroad in Dallas, TX before retiring and moving home to Vincennes.
Ed was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church as well as the local Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed getting together with his friends over coffee at McDonald’s, was an avid lifelong fisherman and a devout football fan, rooting for the Washington Commanders and Indianapolis Colts. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to Branson, MO with Ruth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ruth Witsman; daughter Kristi Cook; grandparents Burton and Agnes Wheatley; sister Elaine (Bill) Bowen; and several aunts and uncles.
Ed is survived by his nieces Diane (Scott) Bouchie, Angela Bowen, Marty (Morris) Wilson; nephews David Bowen, Bill (Brenda) Bowen, Brian (Laura) Bowen, Scott (Troy) Bowen; and many cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Witsman. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 524 Broadway St. from 5-8:30 pm and Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 12 to service time. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 1pm with burial at a later date.
