Charles “Charlie” Wright, 73, of Vincennes, IN passed away September 28, 2023. He was born to the late Cecil H. and Rebecca (Watson) Wright. Charlie married the love of his life Betty Dick on September 22, 1979. He was a member of the Bunker Hill General Baptist Church. Charlie worked for 45 years at Vincennes University in the maintenance department before retiring.
In his free time, he enjoyed mowing grass, playing jokes, spending time with his family, going on Mission Trips to Honduras and Jamaica, and helping people however he could. Charlies truly never knew a stranger and was always willing to help. He often helped the local Salvation Army with their food baskets. But Charlies true passion was being an umpire at the Vincennes Girl Softball League. You could always find him there in the summer starting in the early 80s up until 2012. He will be deeply missed by all.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and brother Cecil “Whitey” Wright.
He is survived by his wife, of 44 years, Betty Wright; children Charlene (Jason) Frederick and David (Brandi) Wright; grandchildren Zoey Frederick, Skylar, Kamber, and Charli Wright; sister Debbie Street; and many friends.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Wright. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 524 Broadway St. from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 10am with burial at Dick Cemetery immediately following.
Memorial donations can be made to the Vincennes Girls Softball League in Charlie’s honor.
