Taylor Township Fire Department in Greene County Receives FEMA Grant

The Taylor Township Fire Department in Greene County has reason to celebrate as they secured a significant grant from FEMA. This funding is part of FEMA’s 2022 Assistance to Firefighters Grant. FEMA has awarded the department $129,117, and they plan to utilize it to purchase 14 new air packs, which are crucial lifelines for firefighters when entering burning buildings. These air packs are expected to serve the department for the next 15 years. With the Westgate industrial park and a growing housing development in close proximity, the Taylor Township Fire Department finds this grant particularly timely. The department aims to complete the process of purchasing and ordering the air packs before December, enhancing safety and security for their crew. Chief Randy Baker has already applied for additional funding to acquire a new rescue tanker and anticipates a response in the coming months.
