David Wayne Evans

David Wayne Evans, 72, of Vincennes, IN passed away September 10, 2023. He was born May 29, 1951, in Vincennes, IN to the late Boyd Henry and Gladys Mae (Lorrison) Evans. David graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969 and continued his education at Vincennes University where he received an associate degree in business.
 
He proudly served his country as a Sargent in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. After serving, David worked for 20+ years as the meat department manager for JayC, formerly Red and White, in Vincennes and Mt. Carmel, IL. He continued his career with Organ Battery and Electric for 21 years before retiring.
 
David’s memberships include American Legion Post 73, where he was a past commander; Knox County Voiture 40 & 8, VFW Aux Post 1157, Masonic Lodge #1, Knox County Shrine Club and the Moose Lodge. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Honda Shadow motorcycle, shooting guns, fishing, camping, reading, riding his golf cart, volunteering for Shriner events, woodworking, and playing golf. He will be deeply missed by all.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and fiance Nancy Tewell.
 
David is survived by his fiance Dana Evans; son Brian (Aimee) Evans; daughter Tonya (Jake) Howder; stepchildren Andrew (Vanessa) Shepard-Smith and Jay (Kim) Page; grandchildren Shawn (Abby) Chambers, Zachary Chambers, Kiersten Klein, Parker Howder, Blayze Howder, Kelsey Howder, Aubree Hamilton, Melody Evans, Lillian Evans, Brooke Page, Elliott Smith; great-grandchildren Noah Fuesler, Sam Olson, Olivia Chambers, Brin Evans; silbings Steve (Sandy) Evans, James Evans, Dorie (David) Watkins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
 
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care or Mr. Evans. Visitatation will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 524 Broadway St. from 11am- 1pm. A funeral service will be held on September 16, 2023, at 1pm with burial and full military rites at Memorial Park immediately following.
 
Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner Children’s Hospital in David’s honor.
