Edward “Ed” Dale Cardinal, 67, of Bruceville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Ed was born on April 26, 1956 and is the son of Dale and Shirley (Meier) Cardinal. He married the love of his life, Mary Jo “Jody” (Litherland) Cardinal on September 11, 1981 and enjoyed a beautiful life together.
Ed had worked at Exhaust Speciality as manager before ultimately retiring from Wabash Steele after 33 years of dedicated service. Ed had enjoyed playing softball at the Men’s softball diamonds when he was younger and made many friendships on the field. He was an avid and skilled hunter as he taught his children and grandchildren his secrets and skills to the sport. He liked to garden, fish, and he could fix anything. Most importantly, he loved his family. He was always there for them whether it be watching them play their sports or just spending time with them.
Ed is survived by his wife, Jody Cardinal; father, Dale Cardinal; daughter, Jamie Greer and her husband Mickey; sons, Derek Cardinal and his fiance Heather and Brant Cardinal and his wife Traci; grandchildren, Chloe Cardinal, Finley Greer, Bryson Cardinal, Gibson Greer, Bennett Cardinal. Ivy Cardinal, Huk Cardinal, Lillee Cardinal, Daisee Cardinal, Poppy Cardinal, and Iris Cardinal; and one soon to be great grandbaby; brother, Rick Cardinal (Sherri); and sister, Tammy Bilskie (Ronnie); and several nieces and nephews. Ed is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Cardinal.
Visitation for Ed will be Thursday September 14, 2023 from 4:00 pm- 8:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Trevor Murry will be officiating. Burial will follow immediately after at St Vincent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Ed.
