Doubleheader Washington Hatchet soccer action as you heard on Memories 107.9

Hatchet boys lost 8-1 to a very good Bloomington South team to kick off their season at the Sports Complex.  Jairo Dubon scored the lone goal for Washington.

The Lady Hatchet Soccer team fell at home 4-0.  Lady Hatchets held Mater Dei Scoreless in the first half.  But two quick goals and a couple of late ones  in the second half proved to be the difference.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen has named his starting QB for the season opener.  The staff saw enough in the first preseason game to name  the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 draft Anthony Richardson as the starting signal caller. Richardson beat out veteran Gardner Minshew for the starting gig but Minshew will be one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league. Two veteran NFL running backs reportedly found new homes  with Dalvin Cook signing with the New York Jets and Ezekiel Elliott landing with the New England Patriots.

#25 Iowa

The first matchup involving a top-25 school will be contested on Aug. 26 when Notre Dame takes on Navy in Dublin, Ireland.
