A collision between a train and a car resulted in one person being hospitalized. According to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on August 8th, at 3:15 p.m., near Paxton, at the crossing of Old Highway 41 and County Road 100 E. Upon receiving a 911 call, a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Lieutenant investigated the collision and determined that the driver of an SUV, identified as Ashley Leffler from Linton, disregarded the railroad crossing arms. The northbound CSX train subsequently struck the SUV. Leffler was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
