City of Vincennes Awaits Decision on Grant Application for Hart Street Revitalization Project

The City of Vincennes is awaiting the outcome of its grant application to the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program, which could fund a significant revitalization project for Hart Street. If successful, the makeover could commence as early as next spring, transforming Hart Street from Richard Bauer Drive (near Lincoln High School) down to 15th Street (adjacent to Hucks). The estimated cost for this project is $1.4 million, but through the grant, the city would only be responsible for $700,000. The plan encompasses repaving the road and introducing sidewalks on the north side, making the area more pedestrian-friendly and enhancing accessibility. Furthermore, a portion of Kimmell Road, extending from Hart Street down past Walmart, is also slated for repaving.
