Washington Community Schools Introduces New Professional Development Initiative: (8) 2-Hour Delay Wednesdays for Staff Collaboration

wcs-2-2

The Washington Community Schools (WCS) are excited to welcome students back to school and share some important updates for the upcoming academic year. WCS has now dedicated more time to teacher collaboration. The Indiana State Board of Education approved WCS’s request to expand professional development time for staff on July 12, which was further endorsed at the WCS School Board meeting on July 20. Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, Washington Community Schools will implement (8) 2-Hour Delay Wednesdays, one per month except for December and May, for staff professional development. On these dates, all schools will follow the procedures and schedule of a 2-Hour Weather Delay. Classes will begin two hours later than usual, and buses will pick up students two hours later. Breakfast and lunch services will remain unchanged. The first day of school for Washington Community Schools is August 4th.
