Vincennes City has made an official announcement regarding the closure of Washington Avenue. Effective Thursday, June 22nd, at 9 a.m., the stretch of Washington Avenue between Niblack Boulevard and Bell Crossing will be closed for construction work. The closure marks the beginning of the first phase of construction, which was delayed due to utility work and the need for thorough plan verification. While local traffic will still have access to the closed section of the road, all through traffic will be rerouted to 6th Street. City officials anticipate that the closure will remain in effect until October.
