Clint Sadler, a 25-year-old resident of Loogootee, has been arrested on charges of child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury. The arrest followed an investigation initiated by Sergeant Detective Brock Werne regarding a four-month-old child with severe burns. The child was taken to Riley’s Children’s Hospital on June 2nd and remained there until June 7th. Upon reviewing photographs and speaking with hospital staff, Sergeant Werne determined that the burns were not caused by a simple sunburn, as initially claimed by Sadler. On June 8th, Sergeant Werne and the Martin County DCS visited Sadler’s residence to further investigate the matter. Sadler initially insisted that his son had received a sunburn while playing outside with his sister. However, upon further questioning, Sadler admitted that he had accidentally spilled boiling water on his son while cooking on the stove. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued for Sadler on June 19th. Authorities apprehended Sadler without incident at his place of employment. Clint Sadler now faces three counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, classified as level 3 felonies.
