Brian Allan Gibson

Brian Allan Gibson, 52, of Monroe City, was called home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2023. He was born on November 4, 1970, in Vincennes, IN. Brian was a compassionate and loving person who left a lasting impact on the hearts of those he met. With his witty personality, loving nature, and infectious smile, Brian brightened the lives of everyone who knew him.
 
Brian was a proud graduate of Princeton Community High School Class of ’89. He played basketball and baseball, and was very talented and accomplished in both. Till his very last day, he would shoot hoops outside his house. After high school, Brian went on to receive a degree in Electrical Technology, graduating with honors from Ivy Technical Institute. As a self-employed electronic technician, Brian’s keen mind and dedication to his craft were truly unmatched.
 
From the time Brian was a toddler, he had a fascination with trains. This led him to become a collector of model trains. He was also an avid collector and user of CB radios. His CB handle was “Firebird.” Brian’s work included repairing CB’s locally and from across the country. Brian loved classic cars and you would usually find him in his shop repairing and restoring many different vehicles. He had a diverse and extensive collection of vinyl records. He enjoyed listening to music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, relaxing in the gazebo, watching old movies and television shows, and cheering for his favorite basketball team, IU. For Brian, family was what mattered most, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones.
 
Brian is survived by his parents, Carol (Rissot) and H. Duane Vories of Monroe City, IN; sisters April (Steve) Bullock of Monroe City, Heather (Ritchie) Tolliver of Washington, Heather (Ryan) Elkins-Wolf of Vincennes; brother Bret (Laura Holscher) Vories of Monroe City; long time friend, Sarah Ewart of Australia; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Steven A. Gibson, brother Bart Vories, and both maternal and paternal grandparents. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 3:00-7:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers – Vincennes Funeral Home, located at 524 Broadway Street, Vincennes, Indiana, 47591. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
