Opal Bell (Burton) Miles

Opal Bell (Burton) Miles, 89, passed away at her Washington residence during the evening hours of April 25, 2023. She was born in Plainville on February 11, 1934, to Rector W. and Jennie (Ferguson) Burton.
Opal attended Epsom High School. She had been employed at Perdue, Inc. for twelve years; RCA in Bloomington for eighteen years; and was retired from NASCO in Washington, and was a member of the Washington Moose, VFW, and American Legion. A woman of many interests, Opal enjoyed bowling, dancing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Those who now mourn Opal’s passing include her children: Doug (Peggy) Potts of Fort Worth, Texas; Tony Potts of Montgomery; and Linda (Earl) Slover of Monroe City. Opal was blessed with six grandchildren: Leslie Gray of Washington; Dustin Potts of Otwell; and Michael Potts, Katy Murrell, Matt Potts, and Julia Clark, all in Texas. Additionally she leaves fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
During her lifetime, Opal grieved the loss of her parents, Rector and Jennie Burton; her son, Gary Potts; sisters: Lucille Burton; Lois Wilson; Catherine Clark; Thelma Claunch; Hazel Reed; and brothers: Roy Burton; Lloyd Burton; Harley Burton; Chester Burton; Hobert Burton; and Carl Burton.
Visitation for Opal Bell Miles will be 10:00 am – 1:00 pm; Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.
Funeral services for Opal Bell Miles will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 1:00 pm, Monday, May 1, 2023, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Yvonne Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery – Reeve Township
