Rex L. Leonard

Rex L. Leonard, 61, of Washington, IN, went to be with the Lord April 23, 2023. He was born in Washington, IN, on September 11, 1961, to the late Melvin and Carley (McLemore) Leonard. Rex graduated from Washington High School in 1979. He worked in management for 5 years at 3D Department Store and 29 years with Johnson Oil. For the last 7 years up until his passing, he worked for the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer. Rex was a proud member of Fountain of Life Church, where he was Secretary, Treasurer, and Trustee. When he was not working, he enjoyed fishing, playing baseball and basketball, spending time on the river, traveling with his wife to Flagler Beach and the Great Smoky Mountains, and spending time with his family and beloved dog, Chief. Rex also had a passion for all things railroad.
Rex was known for many things in his life but some of his best qualities include being a man of integrity, possessing a caring and humble nature, and always being friendly. However, his true passion was his love for God and being a man of faith. He always led by example and was a proud Christian. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rex is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vicki Leonard; children Lisa (Keith) Hinderliter, Clint (Kristin) Babrick, Kyle (Kensay) Babrick; grandchildren Sean, Riley, Adalyn, Chloe, Jackson, Drake, Kamden, Calan, Luke, Braxton, Reece, Knox; siblings, Nan (Larry) Gaither, Jack (Carol) Leonard, Gary (Barb) Leonard, Jill (Chuck) White; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Mr. Leonard. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Fountain of Life Church from 4-8pm and Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 10-11am. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11am with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery immediately following.
