Sandra “Sandy” Louise Englehart

Sandra “Sandy” Louise Englehart, 79, passed away peacefully in Newburgh on Friday, April 21st. She was surrounded by loved ones, as well as a care team at Deaconess Gateway Hospital who had come to cherish her during her extended stay in the cardiac ICU. Sandy was born in Indianapolis on November 6th, 1943 to the late William and Eloise (McGuire) Greene. In 1963, she married James “Jim” Englehart of Washington, who preceded her in death.
Sandy was a lifelong resident of Daviess County, living first in Plainville and then in Washington after graduating from Washington Catholic High School in 1961. She served her community for more than two decades as a hair stylist for the residents of Washington’s nursing homes. After her brother founded Greene Insurance, she had the opportunity to travel extensively with her siblings as a sales representative. Sandy had a servant’s heart and was known by friends and relatives as a thoughtful, kind woman (unless you were beating her at Yahtzee or cards). Her warm demeanor and keen sense of humor made her a fixture at family gatherings and church functions (especially Tuesday lunches with her Bible study group). She worshipped at New Hope Christian Church. In her final years, she enjoyed frequent vacations with her friends and family, taking care of her pet dogs and cats, watching Hallmark movies, cheering on her beloved Washington Hatchets, and holding court for anyone who stopped by the family farmhouse.
Sandy is survived by her children Lori Morrison of Brownsburg and Bryan (Connie) Englehart of Washington; grandchildren Logan Morrison, Sean (Alexis) Morrison, Tiffanie (Gary) Arthur and Taylor (Tyler) Gray; great-grandchildren Colin, Ellie, Thorne, Tenlee, and Tibbie; siblings Jim (Lynn) Greene, Phyllis Cox, Berta Matthews, and Bill (Kathy) Greene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. During her life, Sandy mourned the loss of her parents; sister Sharon (Joe) Bybee; son-in-law Al Morrison; grandson Chris Morrison; brothers-in-law Alan (Becky) Englehart and Jack (Sharon) Gill.
Family and friends will be gathering for visitation services at New Hope Christian Church, 559 E 100 S (Bixler Rd), Washington, IN, 47501, on Thursday, April 27th, 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Sandy will be laid to rest at 10:00am the following day at Sugarland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Tala Beth’s Comforting Hearts Foundation, 1155 Troy Rd, Washington, IN, 47501, or online at comfortinghearts1.my.canva.site.
Online condolences may be made to goodwinsievers.com. Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Grandma Sandy and her family.
