The Oakland Athletics signed a binding agreement to buy land on a 49-acre site near the Las Vegas Strip to build the intimate 30,000 seat retractable roof ballpark. There are still several obstacles to be traversed, such as getting 75% of other MLB owners to approve the relocation, but if all goes according to plan, the organization could break ground on a new stadium in 2024 and open for the first Vegas season in 2027.
Follow up to a story from yesterday Mets pitcher Max Scherzer was suspended for 10 games by Major League Baseball on Thursday following his ejection for having a foreign substance on his hand during a game.
Scherzer appealed the penalty and can continue to play until the appeal is decided.
