In about three weeks, Indiana will be holding primary elections for municipal offices in the state’s city’s and towns.  In Daviess County, things will be different than in past elections.   Daviess County’s is joining the growing list of Indiana counties using Vote Centers rather than the old precinct method.  What that means is that, in the future, Daviess County voters will be able to cast their ballots at any open vote center in the County rather than being restricted to voting at their local precinct.  The Daviess County Clerk’s office says there will be fewer voting locations, but the Vote Centers will have more voting machines than the old precinct voting locations.   The Clerk’s office is using the coming primary on May 2, to ease into the Vote Center method.   There is only one contested  primary race in the County.   Two Republican candidates have filed for the nomination for Washington’s District 1 City Council seat.  Early voting for the primary will be at the Daviess County Courthouse between April 21 and May 1.  Times are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, April 22 and 29.  Early voting will end at noon on May 1.   Voters can also vote early at a Vote Center at the National Guard Armory in Washington on Saturday, April 22 and April 29 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. both days.   On election day, the Vote Center will be at the Daviess County Courthouse with polls open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
